Update on Emma and Rae!

Emma is an amazing resilant little girl. She wears her cast and bruises like a little soldier. I have yet to hear of her complain of the ugly green thing, which has been smeared in chocolate and cocoa pebbles and probably other unmentionable fluids. Poor Emma has declared that the Hair Fairy better hurry up and give her her hair back. She doesn't quiet understand what cutting a little bit of her hair off could do to help her booboo on her head. Emma is quiet remarkable.

Rae is doing extremly better than she was. She is able to retain consiousness for a few hours at a time and she has managed to utter a few simple words. Dr. Stevenson and Dr. Segall replaced half of her left leg with metal stints because a cast could not repair the damage done. The bone that connects the elbow and shoulder has sections of metal placed inside of it and it is currently elevated and inside of large cast. The deep cuts on her neck and back are treated three times a day to prevent infection and to speed up the healing process. They have shaved part of Rae's beautiful brown hair in order to be able to reduce the swelling on her brain and control the hemorraging. She has been having severe migraines as of Tuesday night. Rae is making extreme progress and we are all very very glad. Now for the really great news. Dr. Segall has said with maybe a year and a half of rehabilitation, medication for pain and muscle/joint stiffness, and after one major surgery and 6 acute surgeries Elizabeth may have the ability to walk again!!!!!!

Here at the hosptial we are very excited to share this wonderful news with you. Rae is a strong young woman and knows what she is fighting for. I cannot even begin to express how proud, scared and happy I am. Elizabeth is very loved and we miss her jokes and laughter and that goofy look she gives to us and I know none of us can wait for her to open those beautiful brown eyes of hers and get up and dance again. We know she will, so continue to keep us in your prayers.
